The sync service provides secure synchronization of your vault between supported devices. Your vault data remains encrypted throughout the process, ensuring that the server never has access to plaintext information.

When sync is enabled:

• Content is encrypted on your device before transmission.
• Only your devices can decrypt it.
• Distill’s servers cannot read your entries or threads.
• Sync ensures your Vault is consistent across desktop and mobile.

Setting up sync

When sync is available, your vault will prompt you to set up encryption for your vault:

1. Enter a secure password
2. Save your recovery code
3. Keep both secure

Your password is used to create a key that is used to encrypt your data for syncing. You will need your password when adding your vault to new devices.
